Sync & Backups

Sync & Backups

Working Timer offers multiple ways to keep your data safe and accessible across all your devices.

Cloud Sync

After signing in, your data automatically syncs to the cloud in real time.

  • Automatic sync — every change you make (new record, edit, delete) is synced instantly when you're online
  • Multi-device access — sign in on your phone, tablet, and web browser to see the same data everywhere
  • Offline support — the app works fully offline. Changes are queued and synced automatically when you're back online.
  • Sync status — check Settings to see your connection state, last sync time, and the number of unsynced events

Online-Only Mode

For users who prefer not to store data locally, you can enable Online-Only Mode in Settings. In this mode, the app works directly with cloud data without maintaining a local database cache.

Local Backups

Protect your data with local backup files stored on your device:

  • Manual backup — go to Settings and tap "Create Backup" to save a snapshot of all your data at any time
  • Automatic backup — enable daily automatic backups that run when you start the app. These are saved to a separate directory from manual backups.
  • Restore — go to Settings and tap "Restore Backup" to load data from a previously saved backup file

Cloud Storage Backups

Connect external cloud storage services for additional backup protection:

  • Dropbox — connect your Dropbox account to automatically back up your data
  • Google Drive — connect your Google Drive account for cloud backup storage

These work independently of the built-in cloud sync — they're an extra safety net.

Data Recovery

If something goes wrong, you have several recovery options:

  1. Restore from automatic backup — the app keeps daily automatic backups that can be restored from the Settings screen
  2. Restore from manual backup — load any manually created backup file
  3. Cloud reload — if signed in, you can reload all data from the cloud
  4. Sync old data — when signing in on a new device, your existing cloud data is automatically downloaded

Tips for Data Safety

Tip: We recommend enabling automatic backups to protect your data in case of device loss or change. Connecting Dropbox or Google Drive adds an extra layer of protection.

  • Sign in to enable cloud sync — this is the best protection against data loss
  • Enable automatic backups as a safety net
  • Check unsynced events periodically in Settings — if the count stays high, you may have a connectivity issue
  • Before switching devices, ensure all events are synced (unsynced count = 0)
