Geofencing

Geofencing

Geofencing automatically starts and stops your timer based on your location — the app detects when you arrive at work and when you leave.

How It Works

  1. You define one or more geofence zones by placing a point on the map and setting a radius.
  2. When your phone detects that you've entered the zone, Working Timer automatically starts the timer.
  3. When your phone detects that you've left the zone, the timer stops and the work record is saved.

This all happens in the background — even when the app is closed.

Setting Up Geofencing

  1. Go to Settings > Geofencing (or find it in the side menu).
  2. Allow location permissions — the app needs "Always" location access (including background location) for geofencing to work reliably.
  3. Tap the map to place a geofence point at your workplace.
  4. Set the radius — use the slider to adjust the zone size (10–500 meters). A larger radius triggers earlier but may be less precise.
  5. Name the location (e.g., "Office", "Warehouse", "Client Site").
  6. Save the geofence.

Multiple Locations

You can create multiple geofence zones — useful if you work at different locations (e.g., main office, client site, warehouse). Each zone independently triggers the timer.

Managing Geofences

  • Tap a geofence on the map or in the list to edit its name, position, or radius
  • Delete geofences you no longer need
  • Enable/disable geofencing without deleting your saved locations

Requirements

  • Location permission must be set to "Always" (not just "While Using")
  • GPS/Location services must be enabled on your device
  • Accuracy depends on your device's GPS quality and the environment (urban areas with tall buildings may be less precise)

Tip: Set the radius a bit larger than your actual workplace area to account for GPS drift. A radius of 100–200 meters works well for most office locations.
